Clair Kehrberg Tooling, Stamping & Painting Workshop

June 18th and 19th, 9:00 - 5:00

Join Clair Kehrberg in Virginia City Nevada this coming June for a two-day leather tooling, stamping and painting workshop. During this two-day workshop, you will work side-by-side with Clair learning her leather tooling techniques, her border stamping techniques, and her painting and finishing techniques. You will complete a tooling project to take home. You will receive a project information packet that is chock full of excellent information not just for this project but that you can take home and apply to other projects as well. Finished piece is approximately 10 1/2“ x 5 5/8“ and will fit the top of a mini Kobalt tool chest or use it for something else, for example a handbag or large tote.

Students will need to bring floral carving tools, including, but not limited to maul, swivel knife, wing dividers, modeling tool, ruler, spray bottle, undercut bevelers, bevelers, pear shaders, veiners, camouflage tools, mule track, backgrounders, tooling stone…etc. You will also want to bring geometric stamps and border stamps to create your own unique border design. Leather, paint brushes, paints, and finishes provided.

Make sure to bring your own drinks, snacks and lunch.

*Tool chest not included with the class.

Drawing Leather tooling patterns with Clair Kehrberg. In this workshop, we will learn about the foundation of a good tooling pattern. We will discuss and lay out the flow of the tooling pattern and discuss balance and proportion. Clair will walk you through step-by-step how she draws her patterns. If you would like, you can bring a pattern that you have drawn for critique at the end of the class.

Students will need to bring the following; pencils, paper, circle templates, wing dividers or compass, light board and if you have one flower and one leaf template to you use in your patterns. Make sure to bring your own drinks, snacks and lunch.
